All-Day Breakfast

For some time now, the catering industry has been experiencing a new trend: breakfast and lavish brunches are becoming increasingly popular. The more extensive, the more varied and the longer they last, the better they taste. This often works well into the afternoon or evening. An all-day breakfast? What an amazing idea!

The first meal of the day - with a new time twist

Breakfast is a lucrative business for the catering trade, especially in hotels or at weekends when guests come for a cosy brunch. However, the trend is expanding - especially time-wise. Breakfast before work, breakfast break with colleagues, second breakfast instead of lunch: breakfast habits are changing. In big cities in particular, lifestyle and variable working hours mean that many people have a more flexible approach to their daily rhythms and meal times and are happy to eat out. Unlike breakfast deals that are limited to the morning, guests can order breakfast or come for brunch from early till late with the All-Day Breakfast concept. In the USA, it’s common practice in many cafés and diners for guests to order from the breakfast menu until the evening, but the trend is still relatively new in this country. Now, the first trendsetters are also impressing us with their all-day breakfasts.

Brunch in shades of golden green at Babu’s in Zurich

The recently opened branch of Babu’s on Löwenstrasse in Zurich is a great place to start the day or to linger over brunch all day long. In addition to a host of culinary delights, the coffee house impresses with a highly atmospheric mix of materials and creative furnishings. Furnished with charismatic finds, the establishment’s highlights include the glass brickwork on the counter and floor. Here, terrazzo flooring was combined with Naturofloor and the latter levelled using a colour individually mixed to suit the concept. Not only is the “Babu’s” golden green floor ultra-hip, it also creates a cheerful mood. You’re bound to perk up over a freshly-brewed coffee in this lively atmosphere.

A Place to Linger

The generous window fronts provide a view of the lively hustle and bustle around the Opernhausplatz square. If you want to take your time, the upper two floors are available for an extensive brunch, lunch or coffee and cake. The menu features a variety of well-known specialities, including bagels, pancakes and Eggs Benedict, all reinterpreted with a modern twist.

Take-Away

The counter also offers a wide selection of take-away options, ranging from savoury sandwiches, home-made pastries and fresh juices to salads, all designed to meet the needs of anyone in a hurry. Special attention is paid to the new bread range, which is produced daily using sourdough and organic flour.
